Our team installed a whole-home generator with an automatic transfer switch to provide backup power during outages. The generator was mounted on a prepared pad, and the transfer equipment and required electrical and gas connections were installed. All connections were checked and secured before testing the system under normal operation and while powering the home. The generator performed properly, and the installation was completed in one visit, leaving the homeowner with a reliable automatic backup power system.

Our technician completed a full cooling maintenance visit on the heat pump, inspecting and testing the indoor and outdoor equipment, electrical and refrigerant systems, drain line, and key components. The outdoor condenser coil was cleaned, and the system was tested and confirmed to be cooling properly.  We discussed professional duct cleaning and air purification as optional indoor air quality improvements. We also discussed an option to replace mounting clips for improved support.

We proposed installing an American Standard 97% gas furnace, a 3 ton 17 SEER2 air conditioner, matching coil, new thermostat, and an Aprilaire 2000 filter to improve comfort, efficiency, and overall system performance. The customer agreed to move forward with the project. We removed all units, installed the new system, and made sure everything worked properly.

Handyside Plumbing, HVAC & Electrical provided a service call and maintenance visit after the customer reported that when they ran the cooling, the outdoor unit would not operate. Upon inspection, we identified two fault codes at the indoor unit and four fault codes at the outdoor unit. It was determined that the system was low on refrigerant. We provided a quote to recharge the system and recommended performing a leak search at a later date. The customer approved the work, and 4 pounds 6 ounces of R 410A refrigerant were added to the outdoor unit to achieve 7 to 9 degrees of subcooling. After completing the repair, the system was tested in both cooling and heating modes to confirm proper operation.

Handyside Plumbing, HVAC & Electrical disconnected and removed the pedestal tower sink to allow access for the geothermal installation. Our team then installed the new Geo system, completed all necessary system connections, and ensured the equipment was properly set in place and operating as intended. Once the installation was complete, the sink was placed back in the powder room and reconnected to all piping and drainage.

After discussing the condition of the existing unit and long term reliability, the customer chose to convert from oil to gas. Handyside Plumbing, HVAC & Electrical completed a replacement of the 200 amp underground electrical service and installed a new 26KW whole home generator to provide safe, efficient, and dependable backup power for the home.

Handyside Plumbing, HVAC & Electrical provided multiple replacement options for the bathroom sink and faucet while keeping the existing vanity. The customer approved the Best option, which is to replace both the outdated, underperforming sink and the faucet, including installation of a new Moen Eva single handle faucet in oil rubbed bronze.

Handyside Plumbing, HVAC & Electrical resolved the issue by completing a full sewer line replacement and repair despite the lateral being at a significant depth, which required larger equipment. We pulled the necessary permits and coordinated PA One Call, then excavated and trenched from the home to the curb to access the damaged clay line. After safely exposing the pipe, we removed the failing section, bedded the trench with stone for stability, and installed new 4" PVC piping with two new cleanouts (one at the home and one at the curb) for easier future service. We also lined the section from the curb to the street, tested the system to confirm proper operation, and coordinated the township inspection. Once approved, we backfilled and restored the area, including replacing the concrete sidewalk.

Due to the safety risks identified, we recommended and completed a full electrical service upgrade to ensure the home was protected and up to current electrical code standards.

During our site visit, we upgraded the home from a 100-amp electrical service to a 200-amp overhead service, significantly increasing capacity and safety. This included the complete removal of the old electrical components and installation of a brand-new breaker panel, breakers, meter socket, service line, and weather head. All grounding and bonding were updated as required to meet code, and the point of attachment on the home was relocated to a safer, compliant location.

To further protect the home, we installed whole-home surge protection, safeguarding major appliances and electronics from electrical surges and power fluctuations. A temporary breaker solution was also installed to maintain safe operation during the transition.

Additional improvements included replacing the plywood backing behind the electrical panel, reinstalling a GFCI outlet below the panel, and clearly labeling all breakers for easier identification and future servicing.
